By Faith Building Campaign

Plans for 3 Phases of the
Building Campaign

Q: What is the By Faith Building campaign?

A: The By Faith Building Campaign is a capital campaign designed to raise money for facility expansion and improvements at Berean. This campaign reflects our desire to glorify God through lives changed by the Gospel of Christ. Expanding our facilities will help us more effectively reach people with the gospel and disciple them to become fully-devoted followers of Christ. The purpose of this campaign is to encourage people to grow in their faith by experiencing the joy of giving.

Q: Why do we need a new education building?

A: Simply put, in the near future we will need more classroom, fellowship and ministry space to accommodate our growing church family. Since 2002, our worship service attendance has grown at an average rate of 7% per year. Since 2006, it has grown at a rate of 11%. This growth is mirrored in every area of ministry including children’s, youth and adult ministries. Applying conservative growth projections, we will be at our maximum LCG growth capacity by mid-2008. Once maximum capacity is reached, we will simply lack adequate space and will in turn hinder the growth of our church family. And if we are not growing, we are not reaching new lives with Christ.

Q: What is the scope of the plan?

A: The plan will be carried out in three phases. In Phase 1 we will build a 17,600 sq. ft. two-story education building that will connect the existing Family Life Building and the Children’s Ministry Building which will provide necessary classroom, fellowship and meeting space. We will also build a driveway on the east side of the property which will help traffic flow as well as provide additional parking. Phase 2 will consist of building a beautiful 14,000 sq. ft. two-story welcome center which will connect the Main Worship building with the Family Life Building. Additional parking and driveways will also be added on the southeast corner of the property which will increase parking space and enhance traffic flow. The third phase will feature the renovation of the existing Family Life Building and construction of two additional education wings (6,900 sq. ft.) on its north and south sides. A fourth phase of this plan is the renovation and expansion of our auditorium. This construction would eliminate classroom space in the auditorium building for 200 people. This phase will be a “floating phase” as we will insert this phase when church growth dictates and classroom space is available after phase 1.

Q: What is the By Faith Building Fund Campaign timeline?

A: Our campaign will begin on Sunday, April 13th when the church will be asked to formally approve the Master Plan. On Sunday, April 27th, the church will have one worship service during which the By Faith Offering will be received. During this service you will be asked to 1. give an offering from the $2 challenge (explained in next question), 2. a special one-time gift to the fund and 3. fill out a 36 month commitment cards on which you will commit to give a regular amount over the next 36 months.

Q: What is the $2 challenge offering?

A: At the 2007 Annual Victory Night, Pastors Hutson and Robby gave every member a $2 bill and asked them to invest it and bring the proceeds from their investments as an offering on April 27. If you have not received a $2 bill and would like to participate, simply contact the church office for more information.

Q: What can I do?

A: Begin praying now to know and follow God’s heart for your participation in the By Faith Campaign. Also, spend time in God’s Word and in discussion with your family seeking to discover His will for you. We are asking everyone to set aside Friday, April 25 as a day of prayer for this offering.

Q: What about my tithe/missions giving?

A: Your commitment to the By Faith Campaign should be an amount that God leads you to give over and above your regular tithes and offerings.

Q: How should I give?

A: Remember the “3 S’s”: every person should give sacrificially, systematically and sustain that giving over the course of a few years. There are four ways to give to the By Faith Campaign: $2 Challenge Offering: bring your return on the $2 to the April 27 offering. One time gift: On Sunday, April 27, at the By Faith Offering, you will be asked to give a special, sacrificial one-time gift to the Building Fund. Involve your entire family in determining the specific amount for this gift. Make a 36-Month Commitment: You can give more when it is spread out over time. You may choose to give weekly, quarterly or even make yearly contributions. Prayerfully choose the best amount and schedule for your family. Make the church a beneficiary in your will: Your giving can go beyond your lifetime! Leave a legacy of faith for future generations. There are many tools available to you now that will allow you to give to the Lord’s church and leave an inheritance for your children. We can help you plan if you would like to participate. Call the church for assistance.

Q: Will my commitment or contribution be published to the church?

A: No. Only the total of all commitments and contributions received will be announced on Sunday, April 27.

Q: How do I designate my commitment to the By Faith Campaign?

A: Special envelopes will be provided on Sunday, April 27 for both the $2 Challenge offering and the special, one time gifts. For the regular giving over 36 months, simply designate the amount of your offering given to the Building Fund on your regular giving envelopes. If you have any questions or need regular giving envelopes, please call the church office.
