FOREWARD

For a long time too many wonderful people have thought peculiar those of us who embrace the positions set forth in this book. Furthermore, some of us who hold these positions dear have not represented them very well. Our spirits have often been hostile, self-exalting, destructively argumentative, and downright repulsive. I fear that many of the positions set forth here have never gotten a fair hearing to rise or fall on their true merits due to the poor attitude and/or presentations of those who hold them.

Why good men of differing opinions can not sit down and reasonably examine each other's viewpoints without preconceived biases, anger, inhibitions and other blinding emotions has long been a mistery to me. To honestly see another person's viewpoint does not require agreement with it. Godly men need not be enemies because they fail to agree on every point. And surely folly is magnified when men, who really agree, cut and crucify one another due to the fact that for one neglectful or emotional reason or another, they have failed to recognize their common ground.

There is evidence that this has been done many times. This little book is designed to present, in a non-antagonistic way, some of the more emotion-stirring points, because of which some people have thought us peculiar and to be rejected. Hopefully, upon considering these contents, you will at least understand why we believe these things; and not consider us your enemy, whether or not you embrace them.

In Christian love,

Dr. Lester Hutson
