FOREWARD

About 7:15 a.m. on Thursday morning, December 7, 1967, I met an oilfield workover rig head-on at about thirty-five miles per hour. Miraculously, God let me live, but it took a long time to recover from the many breaks and cuts. During the first four months, while I as totally bedridden, God gave me the seed for this tremendous evangelism-discipleship tool. I had lots of time to think as I lay there; and the progression of truths in Christianity which are set forth in this book began to take shape in my mind. I had long seen the need for such a short course as this, which could be used by the ordinary man in reaching into the lives of others. I had already spent years visiting hundreds of homes in the usual unannounced thirty minute way with very dismaying results.

For the next four or five years the material you will find here began to come together bit by bit. First, I tried one one-hour lesson; then one two-hour lesson. I later tried four lessons; but the final six-hour combination seemed to be what the Lord had in mind for me. It was all just a thing I carried around in my head for a long time. Then, in 1976 , at the encouraging of a dear brother in the Lord, I wrote a rough copy of the material down.

You who are familiar with that publication will see many changes here. All of the basic information is the same; but in the years since then, God convinced me that a better arrangement and delivery was in order. Particularly the last two chapters have been rearranged , without , I believe, doing any violence to the scriptures. I think you will now find the material much easier to follow and teach. (In the Lesson Plan Outlines, scriptures to go on the chart are in bold type. All others are for your own reference in teaching)

And, that's my goal: that multitudes will teach it. These truths are not mine; they are the Lord's. He just let me have the privilege of arranging them in the teaching order. I thank Him for the opportunity, and have tried to make it so easy you will be able to just take it and go to work with it. May He make you fruitful, as He has others who have already gotten into the work of presenting Christ to those in need.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The material in this book is designed to be taught primarily in homes one hour per week for six weeks at an appointed time, thus, this is an evangelism and discipleship course. The content and advise on teaching and techniques are included is chapters One through Six. Chapter Seven gives a little insight into the purpose of the course and explains how one may train himself or others to teach the lessons. This lesson should shed light on how to make the teaching of this course a working ministry of a Church. Chapter Eight tells how to set up these lessons with people and discusses some very important teaching techniques.

What you have in your hands is thus a tool to be used, not just a book to be read. The material here is designed to equip you to go out and actually begin sharing the great truths of God's word with others. Although before you go out, you should master the content of this book; not only the actual truths to be shared, but also the material on how to do it. First, read the whole book with the idea of getting the whole concept in mind. Then begin to master the material so that you may share it with others effectively in the manner that is set forth here.
